UNIBEN STUDENT AXED TO DEATH

 Unidentified assailants have killed a 300-level student of the Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Physical Sciences‎ of the University of Benin, UNIBEN. The victim was identified as Gbenedio Ejiroghene.

Ejiroghene was said to have been axed to death.

The gruesome murder took place in the Ugbowo Campus of the institution on Friday at about 7 pm, when he was hit on the head.

He died instantly.

The University’s spokesman, Barrister Harris Osarenren who confirmed the murder of the student, said the killing has been reported at the Ugbowo Police Station and that the body has been deposited at the mortuary of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH.

He said investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances about the killing.
Ejiroghene identified himself as Ejiroghene Reformed Cazito, on his Facebook Wall. On the day he was killed, he changed his profile picture and wrote: “Behind every successful man, there is God.. “, turning around the more prevalent aphorism that credits a man’s success to a woman.

UNIBEN DECLARES 3 HOURS STAND-STILL FOR OSHODIN

Prof. Osayuki Godwin Oshodin

The University of Benin has declared a 3-hour lecture free moment to mark the end of tenure of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Osayuki Oshodin (JP). The hours of between 9.00am-12.00am on Wednesday 22nd of October is going to be a Thanksgiving Service. This is in conjunction with the All Saint Chapel, Student Union, Christian Community  on Campus, among others.  

Professor O.G Oshodin has been the VC of the great university since November 30, 2009. His tenure ends 30th November 2014. Professor Oshodin is a member of  several  Learned Societies and has many  Awards and Honours. His administrative experience in the University of Benin is also very robust, he has either been Chairman or member of more than 35 university Boards and Committees. He is married to Mrs Otasowie Oshodin.
 Oshodin is an indigene of Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. He attended the Western Boys High School, Federal School of Science, Lagos State; Central State University Ohio, Columbia University of New York city, USA and received an Ed.D from the teachers college Columbia University of New York city in 1980. He lectured in several universities throughout the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. He was appointed the Vice-Chancellor of University of Benin in November 2009.

BOKO HARAM LAUNCHES ATTACK AFTER CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT

The news came flying around yesterday that the insurgent militant group, Boko haram had signed a ceasefire agreement with the Federal Government. BOKO HARAM SIGNED CEASE FIRE AGREEMENT WITH FG

The Islamic militant group boko haram has finally signed a ceasefire agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria in Saudi Arabia. They have also promise to release the abducted Chibok girls.
The final decision as reported, was due to their repeated defeat by the Military groups in recent times and the killing of their 'new Shekau'. Details of how and who signed for both parties will follow after.

UNIVERSITY OF BENIN GOT A NEW VC

It is a state of warmest enthusiasm for the entire family of Prof. Osasere Faradey, the uniben community and Edo state at large, on Monday when this erudite scholar and Professor was finally declared the next Vice chancellor of the great University of Benin. He is to take over from the present VC, Professor Oshodin whose tenure ended on 30th November.
Before this time, Professor Osasere Faradey Orunwense was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the institution and a former administrator of the Ekehuan.

The professor of mechanical engineering was also a two-time Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology, Usen, in Ovia South-West Local Government of the state.
May his time bring out the best out of this great citadel of learning.

FACEBOOK CEO DONATE #4BN TO TACKLE EBOLA

The founder and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla have donated a sum of $25m (#4bn) to the Centre for Disease Control, CDC to tackle the scourge of EVD before it turns to a hydra-headed monster globally. In his own word Mark said “Priscilla and I are donating $25m to the Centres for Disease Control Foundation to help fight Ebola. The epidemic is at a critical turning point. It has infected 8,400 people so far, but it is spreading very quickly and projections suggest it could infect one million people or more over the next several months ifnot addressed.
“We need to get Ebola under control in the near term so that it doesn’t spread further and become a long term global health crisis that we end up fighting for decades at large scale, like HIV or polio.
“We believe our grant is the quickest way to empower the CDC and the experts in this field to prevent this outcome. Grants like this directly help the frontline responders in their heroic work. These people are on the ground setting up care centres, training local staff, identifying Ebola cases and much more. We are hopeful this will help save lives and get this outbreak under control.”

The renowned Tungba gospel musician,  Yinka Ayefele has expressed his shock over the death of his father,  Chief Joshua Taiwo Ayefele. The incident happened after this man popularly known as Baba in his environ had his 76th birthday anniversary.  Yinka while narrating the issue said “I was there with him at Ipoti Ekiti to celebrate with him, he even saw me off when I was leaving and I left but was surprised to hear few minutes after I left of his demise.”
Well, for those who may want to go to do the burial with him, pls watch out for the date, lol.

The daughter of the former military administrator of Kano state, Brig. General Dominic (rtd) whose name is frances has been shot dead by some gang of gun men in warri on Saturday. The incidence has been confirmed by the Delta State police. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said that Frances was attacked and shot as she left a bank at JW Junction along Ovie Palace Rd, where she had gone to withdraw some money for her father. May God save us from this bloody men.

NIGERIA DEPORTS 82 FOREIGNERS FOR SECURITY REASONS

The Coordinator of National Information Centre- NIC, Mr Mike Omeri yesterday annouced the repatriation  of 82 foreigners  for suspecting them  for some nefarious activities. The people include Chadians, Senegalese and Nigeriens. According to Omeri while Speaking during a security briefing along side with the representatives of security forces, in Abuja, Omeri said those nationals repatriated were jobless.

According to him, “We wish to inform the media of the recent repatriation from Jos of a number of nationals of Chadian, Nigeriene and Senegalese origins for nefarious activities that could undermine the security of Nigeria.”

BREAKING: FEDERAL HIGH COURT SACKS FINTRI AS GOVERNOR

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the immediate remove of the Adamawa State Governor- Alhmadu Fintri. It has also ordered that the deputy should be sworn in in place of the Governor. The Independent National Electoral Commission -INEC to suspend the coming election in the state for now, also by the court order.
