After years of development, the Triggerfish system (Sensimed)—a contact lens designed to continuously measure and record ocular changes closely correlated with intraocular pressure (IOP)—was recently cleared for marketing by the FDA.

The study aims to re-engineer the ganglion cells to respond to light and send signals to the brain, allowing patients to see, if only in blurry black-and-white.

2050. The research, conducted at the Brien Holden Vision Institute in Australia,

points to environmental factors as the potential cause of this growth—namely,

less time outdoors and more nearwork activities.
